The SHSAT stands for the Specialized High Schools Admission Test. Taking and doing well on the exam is the only way to get into one of the eight specialized high schools in NYC (other than Fiorello H. Laguardia High School). The eight high schools are:

  • Bronx High School of Science

  • Brooklyn Latin School

  • Brooklyn Technical High School

  • High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College

  • High School for American Studies at Lehman College

  • Queens High School for Sciences at York College

  • Staten Island Technical High School

  • Stuyvesant High School

The SHSAT is the sole criteria for admission (report cards and state test scores are not considered).
